A Cobb County church offered a practical gift to more than 150 unsuspecting mothers Saturday that they'll cherish at least until their gas tanks empty.

Mothers who pulled into the Exxon gas stations located at 1251 Cobb Pkwy N and Bells Ferry Road in Marietta were greeted by Enlightened Christian Church members, who pumped and paid for their gas Saturday afternoon.

The Marietta church gave away $3,000 worth of gas as a part of its Mother’s Day Extravaganza weekend, said pastor Bryant Bell.

“The Lord gave us the idea,” Bell said in an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We just kept giving it away until we ran out of money for it.”

In addition to the gas giveaway, members of the church's Men Unlimited ministry also served free meals to mothers in the community at their church, located at 1349 Old 41 Hwy NW, Suite 230.

“We’re a creative church. We’re always thinking of new ways to do outreach,” Bell said. “It allows us to be a blessing to a lot of people.”
