Atlanta unveils new technology to improve procurement process

The city of Atlanta Department of Procurement has launched ATL Procurement, a new website developed to simplify the vendor registration process and make it easier for anyone interested in doing business with the city to quickly identify contract opportunities online. The streamlined website (www.atlantaga.gov/procurement) was developed as part of the city’s Code for America Fellowship in collaboration with the Department of Procurement and the Mayor’s Office of Innovation Delivery and Performance.

Additional features of the website include:

User-friendly tools to search and browse procurement opportunities;

Open data on purchasing and forecast to increase transparency and accessibility;

Google translate functionality, enabling the website to be viewed in many international languages;

An expanded FAQ section covering all major areas of the procurement process;

An easy new way to receive automatic updates about current procurement opportunities; and

Easy navigation across all social media platforms.

CfA is a national nonprofit that partners with local governments and citizens to foster civic innovation. The city of Atlanta was selected in 2014 as one of ten cities in the nation to collaborate with Code for America fellows to streamline the municipal court website, develop interactive web tools for the proposed infrastructure bond and redesign the Department of Procurement web page.
