A 27-year-old Acworth motorcyclist died Sunday afternoon after he and another rider hit a car.

Darrell L. Ross died on his blue 2007 Suzuki GSX-R600, the Cobb County Police Department said Tuesday.

Ross was between two other motorcyclists in a single-file line heading south on Sandtown Road when a white 2004 Nissan Murano exiting Pine Haven Mobile Home Park tried to cross Sandtown east onto Westside Drive, police said.

The front, right side of the Nissan hit the first motorcycle in line, a black 2015 Kawasaki ZX14, and Ross' Suzuki hit the left side of the car. The third motorcycle avoided the collision.

The rider of the Kawasaki — a 32-year-old Dallas, Ga., man — was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for an ankle injury.

The 23-year-old Nissan driver from Marietta was also taken to Kennestone with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information can call 770-499-3987.
