Local musicians raise money for charity through 10K

“I think we are more than just a band,” said Marc Castelo, the songwriter for Always Saturday. The two-year-old Atlanta-based band is set to raise funds for the local children’s charity, Camp Sunshine, through its effort, Love is 10K .

Not a race, Always Saturday is attempting to reach 10,000 song downloads of its single “Love is Plural” for Camp Sunshine. All download proceeds will benefit the Decatur-based charity for its local projects and summer camps for families whose children are battling cancer.

“Through strange coincidences, this single was the right avenue to raise awareness and attention to a good cause,” said Castelo, also a pediatric physical therapist. Before the song was even set to raise money for a nonprofit, “Love is Plural” features singers Doug MacMillian (lead singer of The Connells) and Annie Hyra (background vocalist on Billy Pilgrim) who are both cancer survivors. “Once we found this out, it only made sense to use this song to spread the message of love and raise money for Camp Sunshine.”

Always Saturday also launched 10 that Kare for businesses to get involved through sponsoring downloads. Companies such as B2B Workforce/Randstad have sponsored song downloads which will be distributed to its employees.

“We would love to see this effort be a success because it is going to a good cause for children who really need some form of normalcy in their lives,” added Castelo. The song can also be heard on Sirius XM radio on the Kids Place Live channel.

“This is such an exciting way for a local group to be involved with Camp Sunshine ,” shared Lindsey Monroe, special events and public relations coordinator for the nonprofit organization. “Always Saturday is using their talent and their passion to give back to our organization. We really could not ask for more from our Atlanta community.”
