Atlanta Public Schools will close one hour early Friday because of snowy, rainy weather, though officials warned traffic and weather conditions will mean it will take longer for students to make it home.
The school district made the announcement just before 12:30 p.m. Friday and also cancelled all after-school, evening and weekend activities.
“Even with an early dismissal, because of the traffic and weather conditions, we are anticipating that students, at best, will make it home at the regular time. This allows us to get all students back to school who are currently out on field trips,” the district said, in a statement.
Most elementary schools will dismiss at 1:30 p.m., high schools at 2:30 p.m., and middle schools at 3:05 p.m.
There are a few schools that operate a different schedule. Those dismissal times are: Whitefoord, Inc. PreK 1:15 p.m., Forest Hills Academy 3:15 p.m., North Atlanta High School 2:45 p.m., Sutton Sixth Grade Campus 3:15 p.m., West End Academy 2:42 p.m., Crim Open Campus 2:30 p.m., and North Metro 2:15 p.m.View full experience
