Kroger warns of data breach, customer email addresses exposed
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Kroger Co. sent emails to its customers Friday warning that a company database with limited information about customers was breached.
The email, and a recorded phone message that customers are directed to call, says that customer names and email addresses were exposed.
"As a result, it is possible you may receive some spam email messages," the grocery store company said, adding that customers should beware of any resulting scams that seek personal information.
"Kroger would never ask you to email personal information such as credit card numbers or social security numbers," the email alert said. "If you receive such a request, it did not come from Kroger and should be deleted."
