The National Weather Service is predicting a third round of potentially severe thunderstorms today in metro Atlanta, and there will be much more of the same in the coming days.
Today, the region's residents face a 40 percent chance of storms, with highs around 80 degrees. Forecasts call for the wet weather to continue Monday, with a 70 percent chance of storms.
The area is expected to see short relief Tuesday, when mostly sunny skies are predicted.
Thunderstorms are expected to return Wednesday and continue through Friday. Highs through the period will be in the upper 70s to low 80s, with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s.
Friday night's storms dumped nearly 2 inches of rain in Rome and 1.31 inches in Cartersville.
Other rainfall totals included .85 inch near Mableton, .66 inch in Chamblee and .38 inch at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Another band of storms swept across the region Saturday.
