Jackson County authorities continue to investigate the drowning of a 5-year-old boy at a babysitter's house in Pendergrass.

Foul play is not suspected in the death of Chad Michael Brophy, Jackson County Coroner Keith Whitfield told The Gainesville Times. The boy was found Thursday at the bottom of a 8-foot-deep swimming pool behind the babysitter's house on Hubert Pittman Road.

When the boy disappeared, the babysitter suspected he may have been in the backyard pool but she could not see him because the water was dark and murky, Whitfield told the newspaper.

Responding paramedics tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate the boy for more than an hour.

No charges have been filed.
