Homeless man accused of following people in park arrested with knife
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
When his girlfriend mentioned a man had been following her during her runs, an Atlanta man decided to go with her. Roland Craig brought his bike along to follow her Sunday.
"It's been a couple of months now that it's been occurring," Craig told the AJC.
Sure enough, the same man showed up. But this time, Craig was with his girlfriend, and the man, also on a bike, didn't follow her for long.
Instead, the man approached another female on North Highland and Freedom Parkway, Craig told the AJC. The woman told Craig she was scared, and he called Atlanta police.
Robert McKenzie, 46, was still at the scene when an officer arrived, according to the incident report. The responding officer noticed McKenzie was carrying a knife, the report states. McKenzie, who is homeless, was arrested for carrying the blade, which was over 3 inches long and in violation of city ordinance. He was transported to the city jail.
The officer also disposed of "contaminated" rags and pornographic pictures that McKenzie had in his pockets, the incident report states.
Craig says he hopes any other women who have been approached by McKenzie will let police know.
