Cops: Henry teen's crime spree included robbery, carjackings
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Police have arrested a 16-year-old Henry County boy who allegedly went on a bold crime spree that included two carjackings, a stolen car and an armed robbery.
All while the teen was wearing an ankle bracelet.
The crime spree started in the wee hours of July 8 in Stockbridge where the teen allegedly approached a man at a Walmart on North Henry Boulevard and asked for a ride to a nearby apartment complex. At the complex, the teen pulled a gun on the man and took his blue Kia Optima, police said.
About 20 minutes later, the teen -- joined by two other males -- allegedly robbed a group of people at a QuikTrip on Mount Carmel Road. After leaving there, the three suspects carjacked a woman of her red Dodge Caravan at a location off Chambers Road, police said.
Police say the Kia contained the first victim's address and keys to his Toyota Land Cruiser. The teen then dumped the Kia in Clayton County and went to the man's house and stole the Land Cruiser, authorities said.
The Land Cruiser contained a LoJack device that the police were able to use to track down the teen, who was riding with four of his friends in Clayton County, police said. He was arrested in Forest Park after a chase through Clayton and Henry counties. Detectives interviewed the teen, who confessed to the above crimes, police said. He was wearing the ankle bracelet because of earlier armed robbery and other charges, according to police.
Two other occupants in the Land Cruiser were charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession, and two were questioned and released.
