A man answered a knock on the door Sunday morning and was greeted by a gunman who fired several times, hitting the man at least once, Henry County police said.

The victim staggered outside and fell. He was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital. Police said he was still alive as of 10 a.m., but could not provide his condition.

The incident happened just after 7:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Tye Street in Stockbridge.

Capt. Jason Bolton said at least six people were inside the home at the time of the shooting. Two were taken to jail. One was arrested on an outstanding drug warrant, the other for possession of methamphetamine. Police are investigating whether the shooting was drug-related.

"We've got several witnesses and people in the area who were driving by when this occurred," Bolton said. "We've got several individuals to interview and hopefully then we'll have some more information, perhaps a description or the name of a suspect."
