Though some areas south of the city experienced steady rain earlier in the evening, most of the metro area remained dry Friday night.

And while that's likely to change Saturday, the National Weather Service said most of the region will see no more than a quarter to half inch of rainfall, with a high near 78. The chance of rain drops to 40 percent Saturday night.

A flash flood watch for North Georgia remains in effect through late Saturday night, said Frank Taylor, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Forecasters said that with soil still saturated from last weekend's heavy rain, "any rain that develops will likely all run off into creeks and streams, leading to rapid rises."

Earlier Friday, Chattahoochee River flood warnings were dropped north of West Point Lake, meaning existing water levels had subsided. Flood warnings are still in effect near Macon.

Sunday should be mostly sunny, with a 20 percent chance of morning showers and thunderstorms followed by afternoon highs in the low 80s.

By Sunday evening, expect to feel a touch of fall in the air, Taylor said. Lows will around 60 Sunday night and the mid-50s Monday night.

High temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday will be in the 70s.
