Gwinnett County Commissioner Kevin Kenerly will not seek re-election to his District 4 seat.

The announcement came Tuesday before a crowd of about 75 people in the lobby of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville.

Kenerly is the longest-serving member of the five-member board. He was first elected in 1994.

“I have loved what I have done for 16 years,” he said. “I’ve loved the citizens. The citizens are the only endorsement I’ve ever had.”

Kenerly, 46, said he plans to spend more time with his wife and four children. He said he hopes to have more children and continue his passion of coaching youth football.
