Duluth is tooting its horn with a recently opened train-themed park in the downtown district.

Taylor Park, on Main Street in front of City Hall, boasts a children's playground featuring a miniature train depot, train set with steam engine, passenger car, tanker car, caboose and water tower.

"It's quite a striking little area," said Chris McGahee, Duluth's economic development manager.

McGahee said the half-acre park fulfills the city's promise to replace the playground that was removed to build the new City Hall, which opened in January 2008.

The park cost about $300,000 and was paid for with funds from the special purpose local option sales tax, or SPLOST.
