Stephens takes reins as county administrator
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Gwinnett County commissioners gave formal approval Tuesday to an employment contract with Glenn Stephens as county administrator. Stephens succeeds Jock Connell, who retires at the end of the year.
A graduate of Mercer University’s law school, Stephens came to Gwinnett as assistant county attorney in 1998. He was appointed director of planning and development in 2006.
Stephens’ five-year contract has a renewal option and an annual salary of $228,000 and requires an annual market analysis of similar positions in Cobb and Fulton counties and the city of Atlanta. He will oversee a workforce of almost 5,000 employees and an annual budget of $1.5 billion.
