The Georgia Recreation and Park Association’s 7th district has recognized the late Jimmy Gresham of Snellville as Volunteer of the Year for 2009 at the district’s annual awards banquet in Gainesville.

Gresham was a 20-year volunteer for the city’s annual Snellville Days festival and had served on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board for five years. Gresham died Aug. 13.

“It was nice to be able to honor Jimmy in this way,” Snellville parks Director Cyndee Bonacci said in a news release. “He loved Snellville Days and played such a vital role in the festival each year. He is and will continue to be greatly missed.”
