Police arrest pregnant woman's shooter
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Police have arrested a man for the Friday afternoon shooting of a pregnant woman in Gwinnett.
Raul Carrion-Jimenez, 35, was searching for his girlfriend after an argument early Friday at a house located in the 1200 block of Santa Anna Drive in Norcross. He left the house, only to return around 3:15 p.m., police spokesman Jacob Smith said.
The pregnant woman, whose name was not released by authorities, told the man his girlfriend was not there and locked the door as he tried to force his way inside. The suspect then drew a pistol and fired five rounds through the door, striking the pregnant woman once.
Further investigation led detectives to obtain warrants for Carrion-Jimenez’s arrest. He was taken into custody around 8:20 p.m. without incident and transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center, said police.
Carrion-Jimenez is charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
Neither she nor her baby sustained life-threatening injuries, Smith said.
