Pedestrian struck and killed in Duluth
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A 48-year-old man was struck and killed by a car Friday evening while attempting to cross a busy street in Duluth.
James Eaton III was trying to cross four lanes of heavy traffic at 8:20 p.m. at a marked crosswalk at Sugarloaf Parkway near Meadow Church Road, in front of the Gwinnett County Civic Center. However, Eaton entered the crosswalk while the pedestrian light was red, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli.
Eaton was struck by a white 2008 Ford Edge that was proceeding through the intersection on a green light. No charges are pending against the driver, who was not injured in the collision. Police said it did not appear that speed or alcohol were a factor in the accident.
