Norcross to weigh proposed 2010 budget
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Norcross will hold a public hearing Monday night on the city's proposed 2010 budget, likely to see a $2.7 million hit amid the economic downturn.
The city's operating budget last year was set at $10.2 million. Because of the sagging economy, the proposed 2010 budget will be $7.5 million, a decrease of 27 percent.
Norcross already has reduced its staff, from 106 employees to 93. It is also in the process of switching employees from a PPO health plan to an HMO plan to reap savings of about $250,000, officials said.
The City Council must approve the budget by year's end, Mayor Bucky Johnson said. Norcross' fiscal year begins Jan. 1.
The hearing will be at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
