Lilburn officer graduates FBI National Academy
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Capt. Bruce Hedley, the uniform patrol commander for the Lilburn Police Department, graduated this month from the prestigious FBI National Academy Program in Quantico, Va.
The 239th session consisted of men and women from 49 states and 27 countries. The National Academy program is an 11-week course of investigative, management and fitness training for selected officers that is internationally known for its excellence. Hedley has more than 20 years of law enforcement experience, a master's degree in public administration and is pursuing a doctoral degree in criminal justice.
At the police department, he has taken steps to reduce overtime by implementing 12-hour shifts for officers and has helped to create the first-ever Citizen Police Academy, which will start in January. Hedley also increased foot patrols in commercial areas and instituted a take-home vehicle policy for patrol officers. City manager Bill Johnsa said Hedley is a "consummate professional" and Lilburn is proud to have him on staff.
