Evermore CID recall petition presented Monday
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A recall petition against two board members of the embattled Evermore Community Improvement District will be presented Monday.
Board member Dwight Harrison said he has secured more than 20 percent in the required number of parcels and amount in property values to launch a recall election to oust fellow colleagues Emory Morsberger and Don Robison.
Morsberger is currently board chairman.
The CID is a self-taxing business group with territory stretching from Stone Mountain to Snellville along U.S. 78.
Harrison said he launched the recall effort because four board members, including Morsberger and Robison, failed to show up at four consecutive meetings beginning in July. The no-shows stalled votes on various contracts, including the one for executive director Jim Brooks. Brooks has since been removed.
After Harrison presents the petition to the board at the 2:30 p.m. meeting Monday, he said he will deliver it to Gwinnett County officials for verification. The earliest the recall election could happen is Jan. 26, Harrison said.
If the recall is successful, power once again would shift on a CID that has been mired in infighting and multiple board shakeups in the past two years.
