Buford man arrested for neglecting horses
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A 65-year-old Buford man was arrested for tying his horse to a truck and feeding it plants, according to The Gwinnett Daily Post.
At a June 10 property inspection, Gwinnett County police and animal control discovered that Jerry Cantrell tied his brown and white horse, Scooby-Doo, to a Dodge Dakota.
Cantrell, who owns four horses, separated Scooby Doo because of a fight in which he sustained injuries, the newspaper reported. The horse also appeared weak and dehydrated.
Cantrell was charged with cruelty to animals, police said.
In addition to his neglect for Scooby Doo, officers also issued a warning concerning his care for other horses, citing a leaky roof and a muddy ground in a barn where they were located.
Saturday night, Cantrell remained in the Gwinnett County Jail, where he being held on $5,700 bond.
