2 shot in Gwinnett identified

Police have have identified two men shot late Thursday night in unincorporated Gwinnett County.

Darrel Stringer, 23, and Keiven Rhodes, 19, both of Norcross remain hospitalized after being shot while sitting with a third man in a car at the Valencia Park apartment complex at 3500 Peachtree Corners Circle. The incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. Thursday, authorities said.

Shots were fired at the car and two of the three men were hit, police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli said.

The third man began to drive his injured friends to a hospital when the spotted a Gwinnett police officer at the corner of Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Buford Highway, and flagged him down, Schiralli said.

An ambulance was called to the scene to take the men to a nearby hospital, authorities said.

The motive is still unclear.

Gwinnett County police homicide investigators began questioning witnesses in the apartment complex, Schiralli said.
