Pandas aren’t the only animals multiplying at Zoo Atlanta. Kudzoo, a 16-year-old lowland gorilla, is pregnant and due in late spring. The mom-to-be, who is about two months pregnant, is the firstborn of the legendary Willie B., who died in 2000.

The zoo’s veterinary team will closely monitor Kudzoo and conduct monthly pregnancy tests, since the gorilla has experienced at least one miscarriage.

Kudzoo and her mate, Taz, 21, have one other offspring, 4-year-old Macy Baby.

All of Kudzoo’s four siblings and her mother, Choomba, reside at Zoo Atlanta.
