For the AJC
DESTIN, Fla. — Officials are investigating the death of a Georgia Southern University student on spring break in Florida.
Investigators say friends found 23-year-old Philip Cameron Christian of Augusta not breathing shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday. He was staying at a vacation home with 15 Georgia Southern students.
Christian was taken to the hospital, where he died about 10:30 a.m.
The students told Okaloosa County Sheriff's officials they had a party Saturday night and Christian went to bed around 1 a.m.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
Christian graduated from Westside High School in Richmond County in 2006.
