Map: New State House boundaries (updated)
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
On Thursday, Aug. 18, the Georgia House voted 108-64, almost exclusively along partisan lines, to approve new district lines for the 2012 elections. Every district in the state must be redrawn every 10 years following the Census to reflect shifting population.
Some Democratic critics of the redrawing say that the new districts are designed to force out several incumbent Democrats.
How the redrawn districts have changed
The map below shows the new State House boundaries. Each district is color-coded to reflect whether its representation has changed. Click on each district for more information about its makeup.
Red: Contested (two representatives now live in one district)
Yellow: New representation (new incumbent representative in that district)
Blue: Open (no incumbent representative in that district)
Green: No change (same representative as before though the district's lines may have changed)
