A Republican legislator from Macon has proposed creating a new court for Georgians to handle problems with the state Department of Revenue.
Election 2012: Across the nation
The Georgia Tax Court would oversee issues with state income tax liens as well as sales tax remittances for businesses, according to House Bill 100. The sponsor of the bill, Rep. Allen Peake, a certified pubic accountant, wants the court to work only on tax issues to create faster responses.
The proposal, which calls for a pilot program to be launched before a statewide system, is now before the House Judiciary Committee for review.
