Georgia parks might charge on Wednesdays

Budget trouble could mean the end of free Wednesday admission to Georgia’s state parks. The perk allows visitors to skip the $5 admission fee.

The department has proposed ending the free admission program as lawmakers push the state park system to become more financially independent amid an ongoing budget crisis. The public can comment on the proposed change until Oct. 22.
