Potty politics interrupted the state Senate on Wednesday after senators objected to a resolution commending PolyPortables, a Dahlonega-based maker of portable toilets.

Sen. Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega, introduced the measure as a goodwill gesture for a successful business in his community. But the protests -- which were done tongue in cheek -- forced him to take the floor to defend Senate Resolution 820 before the entire chamber.
Senators asked Gooch about the value of the company's product, which it sells worldwide.
"It is a place a person can go for rest and relaxation, in a time of need," said Gooch, who managed to keep a straight face as the chamber erupted in laughter.
