Condo bill passes Senate
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Condominium owners would gain some muscle under a bill passed unanimously Tuesday by the state Senate.
Election 2012: Across the nation
Senate Bill 136 would grant owners the right to file a petition in Superior Court to gain oversight of their condominium’s homeowner association. The action could be taken if a condominium's developer or manager fails to properly organize an association within a 30-day time frame.
The bill's sponsor, Sen. Bill Hamrick, R-Carrollton, said the bill was important because homeowner associations contribute to a condominium's resale value by maintaining common areas and buildings.
The Senate vote was 55-0. It now goes to the House for consideration.
