Two years ago, a highway bridge collapsed in Minnesota, claiming the lives of 13 people.
Georgia bridge inspectors checked out 14,615 bridges in 2008, including more than 2,000 in the metro area. Out of metro bridges, only 6 percent rated poorly, signaling a need for repairs or replacement.
