Gas prices rise third straight week

The average price for regular unleaded gas has risen in Georgia for the third straight week and now stands at $2.65, 4 cents higher than a week ago.

Gas prices rose nationally as the summer nears its end and the U.S. prepares to switch to a less expensive blend of fuel. But experts, citing a slowdown in demand, don't expect the surge to last.
"The bleak economic reports are a good indicator the price of crude oil may decline next week, since fewer jobs are being created and demand is slowing," AAA spokeswoman Jessica Brady said.
Atlanta's average price per gallon of $2.65 is 17 cents higher than a year ago.
