Freeze warning for tonight
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Parts of metro Atlanta are under a freeze warning.
As of 11 p.m. Sunday, the temperatures had dipped to 45 degrees in Atlanta, but it felt like 41 degrees, forecasters said. The temperature dropped to 35 degrees in Blairsville and other parts of north Georgia.
"It's going to vary across the metropolitan area, but some of the outlying areas have a decent chance of getting right around freezing," National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Sena said. "Most of the area should see temperatures drop at least into the mid- and upper-30s."
The freeze warning is for South Fulton, Fayette, Cherokee, Paulding, Carroll, Douglas, Bartow and Coweta counties.
In addition, a frost advisory is in effect for 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday, the National Weather Service reported.
Forecasters said the temperature could drop as low as 36 degrees in Atlanta and 32 degrees in Gainesville around 6 a.m. Monday.
The Weather Service advised that some sensitive plants left outside may die in the cold temperatures.
Monday will be sunny, with a high around 63, and it will warm back up into the low 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday. The next chance for rain is Thursday.
