Four men sentenced in E. Atlanta kidnapping
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Four men have been sentenced after they were convicted of kidnapping a McDonough woman last year.
Darrien Bell, Dominique Harris, Cortez Hall and Kenny Bernard Walker were sentenced Thursday for kidnapping and armed robbery, said Orzy Theus, spokesman for DeKalb County District Attorney Gwen Keyes Fleming.
On July 2, 2008, Chelsea McElhenny of McDonough was attacked and robbed as she left an East Atlanta bar.
The four men took her ATM card and cellphone and attempted to ransom for $40 her to a friend who was with her at the time of the attack.
She escaped after her captors took her to an ATM to get money, running to a nearby Publix store.
The four men each received between 20 to 30 years in jail.
Bell and Hall will serve 15 of a 20-year sentence, with the remaining five years to be served on probation; Harris will serve 12 of a 20-year sentence, with the remaining eight to be served on probation; Walker will serve 20 of a 30-year sentence, with the remaining 10 years to be served on probation.
