The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

A man died during the height of the Wednesday afternoon storms when a huge pine tree fell on top of an SUV in south Forsyth County.

Kevin Neenan, 51, of Suwanee, was driving a 2008 GMC Yukon north on Brookwood Road, about 500 feet from the intersection of McGinnis Ferry Road, when a tree crushed the roof of his vehicle, Investigator Ron Tomblin of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said. Neenan was trapped and was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

A passerby called 911 to report the tree on top of the SUV around 2:15 p.m., Capt. Tim House with the sheriff's office told the AJC. No one else was inside the vehicle at the time.

Rescue crews used chain saws to remove the massive tree limb by limb from the top of the vehicle.

Brookwood Road was temporarily closed in the area during the investigation, which is close to the Fulton County line.
