Forsyth County among top 10 young, rich counties

Metro Atlanta’s Forsyth County is among the nation’s top 10 counties as having the highest concentration of young and wealthy residents.

The findings, based off of research done by The Nielsen Company, looked at young people between the ages of 25-34 making more than $100,000 annually.

Forsyth County is number six on the list behind, in order, Loudon and Arlington counties in northern Virginia, San Francisco, New York, and Douglas County, Co. Alexandria City also in Northern Virginia, the only city in the top 10, follows Forsyth.

Their findings show a major change in older trends, said Michael Mancini, vice president of data product management for The Nielsen Company in a statement.

In 1990 more of a concentration of this demographic was in the heartland and in Texas, he said in a released statement. He believes this was driven by the oil economy and agricultural business.

“Now there’s a densification of young money into the major metros,” he said.

Their findings were compiled from household income information the researchers accessed and tabulated, said Julia Monti of the Rosen Group.

“They tabulated the households in this age range and then looked at the percentages,” she said. “The percentages are key.”

According to the research, Forsyth County has a total of 59,296 households with 4,128, or 6.96 percent, in the demographic.
