A Bartow County sheriff's deputy who lost his job amid a stalking investigation died Saturday at his Cartersville home.

An autopsy will be conducted Monday to determine the cause and manner of death, Coroner Joel Guyton said.

Johnny Mike Nicholson, 52, was fired from the Bartow County Sheriff's Office last month after an internal investigation.

According to Cartersville Police Capt. J. F. Kline, Nicholson had unsolicited contact with several women at an apartment complex where he worked an off-duty job. Nicholson repeatedly harassed one woman, leaving explicit notes at her door, Kline said.

Nicholson was charged with one count of stalking. The case was pending at the time of his death.
