The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Tuesday and most of Wednesday morning for north and central Georgia. Forecasters are calling for 2-4 inches of rain in low-lying areas with some areas receiving as much as 5 inches.
The rain, which is forecast to begin late Monday night, is the result Hurricane Ida moving through the Gulf Coast region.
"There is a 100 percent chance of rain for Tuesday, starting Monday night,” said Shirley Lamback of the Weather Service in Peachtree City.
Ida is expected to reach the Florida panhandle and travel east along the Georgia/Florida border, Lamback said.
The storm system will also bring brisk winds to north Georgia, ranging from 15 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph, the weather service said.
Despite the tropical moisture moving in, there will be no drastic temperature change. The weather service is calling for a high of 69 degrees for Monday and a high of 61 degrees for Tuesday.
It should dry up for Veteran's Day. Weather reports are calling for only a 10 percent chance of rain for Wednesday, with a high of 64 degrees.
