Three men were bitten by a fox in Fayette County  Monday afternoon before a Tyrone police officer shot the animal.

The incident happened at an auto body shop in Tyrone, according to WSB Radio.

The fox bit three men, including Walter Wilson, who suffered puncture wounds to his arm when the fox lunged at his face.

Tyrone police Officer Todd Ruth shot and killed the fox as it ran toward him. "I didn't know when he was going to jump up, so I decided to go ahead and take the shot," the officer told WSB.

The victims were treated at the scene, and while if could take several days to determine if the fox was rabid, the victims must undergo rabies shots.
