Fayette man pleads for return of daughter’s ashes
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A Fayetteville man is pleading for the return of his infant daughter's ashes that were stolen Sunday.
Thieves stole the heart-shaped urn containing the remains of Brian Allen’s daughter while he was at work and his wife and two children were at church, Channel 2 Action News reported Tuesday.
“We've already lost her one time, now we've lost her again,” Allen told Channel 2.
The baby, Olivia, was born about a year and a half ago but only lived a few minutes.
“She never had a chance to live,” Allen said. He and his wife kept the urn on a shelf in their bedroom closet. Burglars stole the urn along with a computer, jewelry and other electronic items, but Allen said he only cares about the urn.
“They could have taken everything in this house. It can all be replaced, but you can’t replace that. The thing that gets me the most is you know what they're going to do with it when they realize it's not worth anything. They're gone throw it away,” he said.
Allen hopes whoever took it will have a heart.
“It’s not going to get you any money. You can't do anything with it. It would mean a lot if we could get it back,” Allen said. Investigators with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said they have no leads in the theft, Channel 2 reported.
