Santa Claus came early to the Sampson family this Christmas.

James Sampson, 59, of Harrison, matched all five winning numbers in the Dec. 13 Fantasy 5 drawing. He won $624,134.

“I didn’t believe it,” the father of four said.

He purchased the ticket at Busy Food Mart in Sandersville using numbers from a previous Quik Pik combination.

“About five years ago, I got a Quik Pik, and I’ve been playing those numbers off and on since then,” he explained.

He plans to use his winnings to help his children.

This week, the Mega Millions drawing is estimated to be as high as $140 million to a single annuity winner.
