For Atlanta Auto Show
So you drool over James Bond’s Aston Martin and turn green with envy when Justin Bieber drives P. Diddy’s Lamborghini. You may never get a chance to cruise I-75 in such a star car, but at this year’s Atlanta International Auto Show, you can at least have your picture taken next to one.
Motorcars of Georgia, the Sandy Springs dealer that specializes in high-end, luxury cars, will showcase three exotic sets of wheels during the March 23-27 show. Representatives will be on hand to point out the amazing detail and luxury elements that go into designing and creating these upscale rides, including the newest Lamborghini, Lotus and Aston Martin models.
“An ‘exotic’ car is generally any ultra high-end vehicle that is not mass produced,” said Brandon Saszi, Motorcars of Georgia general manager. “These are cars with outlandish styling and performance that don’t come off an assembly line. For instance, a Bentley would not necessarily be considered exotic, but Ferrari and Lamborghini — the most notable Italian cars — definitely are.”
What catapults these exotics into such a stratosphere? According to Saszi, it’s chiefly the styling.
“A mass-produced car just doesn’t have the soul of these cars that are finely tuned, down to the millimeter of everything being exactly right,” he said. “Especially on the Aston Martins and the Lamborghinis, the focus is always on having the best: the best finish, the best materials, the best motors, the best suspension. Even the paint is unique.”
Look closely at the Aston Martin, for instance, and what appears to be metal is really metal, not veneer or chrome-coated plastic, and the leather trim and seats are hand-stitched. Those minute details make driving such cars an exotic experience.
“The new Aston is a four-door sports car that has been wildly popular; we’ve sold several in the last year since it launched,” Saszi said. “It’s shaped like a coupe but has the utility of a four-door, and it’s a much sleeker, sexier package. It’s just the epitome of class and elegance.”
With a Lamborghini, Saszi explained, the significant difference is in the car’s speed, performance and reliability.
“These are cars that just don’t break,” he said. “In fact, our biggest problem with them is that we don’t get any warranty work.”
Another extreme that exotic cars have in common is the price tag. Lamborghinis range from $250,000 to $300,000. A new limited run of Aston Martins starts at about $210,000. The Lotus vehicles are the most affordable exotics, with prices beginning around $75,000.
For many of Saszi’s upscale clients from around the Southeast, these specialty cars are the third or fourth set of wheels in the garage.
“They’re not the kind of cars you’d drive every day,” he said. “But once you drive one back-to-back with another mass-produced car, you’ll see the difference. These cars are really the best you can get in every way.”
