The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Non-residents of East Point who end up in car crashes in the city should get ready to pay.

The city has adopted a local law that will allow it to collect fees for fire department services, such as advanced life support or medical transportation. Fees will vary, based on what service is provided.

The charges will help offset costs to deploy firefighters to accident scenes and should help the city regain its financial footing after running several years in the red.
