The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Monday afternoon’s heavy rain overflowed and broke a sewer main on Azalea Circle near Decatur, creating a large spill.

About 11,480 gallons of raw sewage dumped into Burnt Fork Creek before DeKalb County crews were able to find the break and replace that section of pipe.

The county plans a $1.35 billion overhaul of its water/sewer system to meet a federal consent decree to prevent such spills in the future.
