DeKalb County residents can tell county officials how they feel about water bills doubling.

County staff will outline the $1.5 billion water and sewer upgrades at a town hall meeting Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Maloof Auditorium,  1300 Commerce Drive, Decatur. Commissioners Elaine Boyer and Lee May will host another town meeting Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Dunwoody Hall at 41 Perimeter Center East.

The county will use bonds to pay for the upgrades, Boyer said. Water bills are expected to increase 110 percent from 2009-2014. The average family will see bimonthly bills go from $165 to $347 by 2014.
