Man shot in head in Lithonia
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Police say a Lithonia man shot his acquaintance in the head the day after he was released from jail.
On Wednesday, DeKalb County Police issued warrants for Robert Cooper, 26.
Police say Cooper shot a 22-year-old man during an argument on Tuesday afternoon.
The hospital is keeping the man alive through life support, police said. Officers declined to identify the victim.
The argument occurred outside a home in the 5600 block of St. Thomas Drive in the Lithonia section of DeKalb.
The argument escalated to a fist fight and then gunfire, Gagnon said.
One of the bullets struck the victim in the head. Cooper fled after opening fire, police said.
A friend rushed the victim to DeKalb Medical at Hillandale, where he remains on life support.
Police said the two men had an ongoing dispute. The nature of that dispute was not available Wednesday.
Court records show Cooper was released from the DeKalb County jail on Monday on a $5,000 bond for forgery charges. He had been arrested Oct. 14.
Cooper has been booked in the jail at least seven times since 2001 on various charges, including on four counts of burglary. He alsoh has been charged with drug possession, possession of a firearm and violating his probation, according to court records.
