Man in DeKalb triple shooting dies
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The man who police say started a gunfight in DeKalb County Thursday has died.
The incident at the Eastside Collision and Car Care Center on Old Covington Highway was drug-related, officer Jason Gagnon of the DeKalb County Police said Friday morning.
It all started when two workers were closing the shop, which is near I-20 and the Mall at Stonecrest in south DeKalb. A man entered and started shooting at them, and they fired back.
The man who started it got into a car and crashed a half mile away on the CSX rail line at Turner Hill Road, forcing a temporary shutdown of the train system.
He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition, and Gagnon said Friday that he died.
The man was carrying several identification cards with different names and would have to be fingerprinted to be identified, Gagnon said.
All involved were in their late teens or early 20s, Gagnon said.
The auto repairmen suffered minor injuries and drove themselves to DeKalb Medical Hillandale.
Police were not releasing their names because of an ongoing narcotics investigation, Gagnon said. "This was all drug-related," he said.
