DeKalb County Sheriff Tom Brown signed an $8 million contract with Nashville-based Correctional Care Solutions to provide medical services to inmates.

The contract, which started Jan. 1, runs until Dec. 31, 2015 and will cost taxpayers about $8 million a year, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said Thursday.

The company will staff the jail’s infirmary and clinics. The Memorial Drive jail houses about 3,400 inmates, the sheriff said.
