A hearing officer contracted by DeKalb County on Monday upheld the county’s February termination of ex-police chief Terrell Bolton, officials announced.

Hearing officer Phyllis Williams reviewed Bolton’s appeal of the firing.

“On behalf of the citizens of DeKalb County, we are pleased with the decision,” DeKalb CEO Burrell Ellis said.

“The DeKalb County Police Department, under the leadership of Chief William O’Brien, is moving forward in its mission of fighting crime and providing the best services that we possibly can to protect our citizens and ensure them the quality of life that they expect and deserve.
