Early morning accident due to off-duty Gwinnett officer
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
An off-duty Gwinnett County Police officer caused a four-vehicle accident in DeKalb early Saturday morning, according to the Department of Public Safety.
The accident occurred around 4 a.m. on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, south of I-285.
A Ford Explorer Sport Track, Mazda Protege, and a Chevrolet van were stopped at a traffic light when, Kevin Sipple, 36, struck the Ford truck from the rear. Sipple was driving a Gwinnett County Police Impala.
The Ford spun and struck the other two vehicles.
Police believe a contributing medical issue may have contributed to the crash, but are not at liberty to identify the condition.
Sipple and the driver of the Ford, Leonel Pineda, 23, of Chamblee, were transported to Grady with visible, non-life-threatening injuries.
No charges will be filed, said DPS officials.
